Kalamies (Greek: Καλαμιές) is another beautiful beach located next to the Golden Coast fishing harbour in the Protaras area.

Kalamies beach combines everything required for a fun day out. Golden sands, beautiful waters, water sports and also a fantastic restaurant (taverna) overlooking the sea. If you ever find yourself there order the fish meze but be prepared for a barrage of plates coming your way.

A few hundred yards away of this beach you can find the fishing harbour as I mentioned before. If you manage to get there early in the morning you can see the small fishing boats return from collecting the nets and you can also buy fresh fish (it doesn’t get any fresher than this). During the night the harbour is illuminated making it a very romantic spot for taking nice walks along the sea.

The sea bed on this location is predominantly sandy with very high visibilities but if you swim a fair distance from the shore you can find really nice rocky spots (depth ~ 15m) ideal for taking pictures.
